Privacy Policy

1. What we collect
We collect:
- Account data: email address, display name (from Google sign-in), profile photo URL.
- Audio files: tracks you upload for refinement.
- Submitted track links: supported Spotify track URLs you ask us to analyze.
- Usage data: timestamps and outcomes of refinement jobs (success, failure, credit consumption).
- Billing data: handled by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription state. We never see your card details.
- Technical data: IP address, user agent, error reports (via Sentry), for service operation and debugging.
2. How we use it
- To provide the refinement service (process your audio).
- To retrieve temporary audio and provide AI-signal analysis when you submit a supported track link.
- To operate your account (authentication, balance tracking, support).
- To bill you (forward to Stripe; receive webhook events about your subscription).
- To improve the service (aggregated, non-identifying analytics).
- To prevent abuse (rate limiting, fraud detection).
We do not train models on your audio. We do not sell your data.
3. Sharing
We share data only with vendors who process it on our behalf:
- Stripe — payment processing and billing.
- Firebase / Google Cloud — authentication, database, file storage.
- Third-party GPU compute providers — host the refinement models.
- Audio-link resolution infrastructure — retrieves temporary audio from the source link you submit.
- Sentry — error tracking.
These providers process data under contract and may not use it for their own purposes. Audio files sent to GPU compute providers are processed in-flight and not retained beyond the prediction window.
4. Retention
- Audio files: 7 days after refinement.
- Standalone detection audio: deleted immediately after analysis; operational logs retain the provider type but not the submitted URL.
- Account data: until you delete your account.
- Usage logs: 90 days for operational purposes; aggregated indefinitely.
- Billing data: as required by tax and accounting law (typically 7 years).
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Object to processing
- Withdraw consent
Email support@therefiner.app to exercise any of these. We respond within 30 days.
6. Cookies
We use:
- Strictly necessary cookies — for authentication and security. Cannot be disabled.
- Analytics cookies — Google Analytics 4 (via Firebase) measures aggregate usage: pages visited, rough region, device type. No advertising features, no cross-site tracking, no sale of data.
- No advertising cookies at any time.
7. International transfers
Our service is operated from the United Kingdom. If you are outside the United Kingdom, your data will be transferred to and processed there. By using the service, you consent to this transfer.
8. Children
The Refiner is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has used the service, contact us and we'll delete the account.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
