How do credits work?
One credit = one Enhanced refinement. Flow Matching is temporarily unavailable while we review output quality, so it cannot currently spend credits. Vocal De-mush costs 1 credit for vocal stems or spoken-word recordings; Vocal Restore costs 2 for singing vocal stems. Both remain Pro/Studio features. AI Artifacts (cleaner-only) costs 2. Finalize (mastering) is a free add-on to Enhanced, or 1 credit standalone — both are available on Hobby, Pro, and Studio. There are no per-preset caps within the features your plan includes. Subscription credits reset monthly; purchased Credit Pack credits never expire. A Credit Pack adds balance without changing your plan or unlocking features outside it.
How does the 30-day welcome trial work?
New verified accounts receive 5 welcome credits and 30 days of Pro feature access without entering a card. The underlying plan does not change. When the trial ends, the account automatically uses its normal plan: Free provides 2 credits each month for Enhanced, while Hobby keeps AI-artifact removal, Humanizer, and Finalize. Buying a Credit Pack adds credits but does not extend the trial or change the plan.
Can anyone run Flow Matching?
Not currently. Flow Matching remains visible in the app, but it is disabled while we review output quality. New Flow Matching jobs are also blocked by the server before any credits are reserved. Use Enhanced for now.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing period — you keep your tier and any remaining subscription credits until then. Pack credits are yours forever.
Do unused subscription credits roll over?
No. Subscription credits reset on renewal (use it or lose it). Pack credits never expire — they're a separate bucket that drains last.
What happens to my files?
Uploaded and refined files are deleted 7 days after refinement completes. We don't train on user audio. We don't share files with third parties. Your tracks are yours.
Do you support 48 kHz output?
Yes — on Pro and Studio. Free and Hobby export at 44.1 kHz. Pro and Studio pick 44.1 or 48 kHz per refinement.
Can I export 32-bit float WAV?
Not currently. The 32-bit float option belongs to Flow Matching, which is temporarily unavailable while we review output quality. Enhanced continues to export 24-bit WAV.
What is the AI Artifacts preset?
It's our AI-artifact cleaner running on its own — no model after. The cleaner uses source separation plus per-stem DSP to strip residue specific to AI-generated audio (subtle haze, unnatural peaks, generation noise) so you get a noticeably cleaner version of the same track. Available on Hobby, Pro, and Studio, 2 credits per run. Runtime depends on track length, queue demand, and worker startup. Important: this is for cleaning audio quality, NOT for evading AI detectors. We don't try to defeat C2PA, watermarking, or detection systems — the goal is to give you a better-sounding file, not to disguise its origin.
Can I clean up a podcast or voice recording?
Yes. Vocal De-mush reduces background noise in podcasts and spoken-word recordings, as well as cleaning AI-generated vocal stems. Upload your voice recording directly. If the vocal is part of a full song, separate it on the Stems page first. Available on Pro and Studio, 1 credit per run.
What is Finalize (mastering)?
Finalize is our automated mastering stage — the last step of the chain. As a toggle on Enhanced (Hobby, Pro, and Studio; no extra credits) it masters the refined file: corrective EQ, glue compression, valve-triode and transformer harmonic saturation, stereo polish with a mono-safe low end, and a true-peak limiter, at a selectable loudness target (−9 LUFS by default; −7, −14, or −16) with a −1 dBTP ceiling. The free 10-second reference preview auditions only a selected reference's tonal shape; with Reference Off it plays the original excerpt. Strength, loudness target, and harmonics are applied to the final master but are not rendered in that preview. As a standalone preset (1 credit) it does the same to a track that's already mixed. Flow Matching integration is temporarily unavailable. The mastered version is the default download and the pre-master stays available as a second file; standalone delivers the mastered file, and your upload is the pre-master. It won't replace a mastering engineer on a commercial release, but it closes most of the gap between an AI export and a released track.
Is stem separation included?
Stem separation is a Pro feature (Pro and Studio). 3 credits per split, regardless of which engine you pick (Demucs, Melband, or Voice Cleanup). Free users get one lifetime trial split so you can try it before deciding to upgrade; Hobby does not include stems.
What if a refinement fails?
Credits are automatically refunded to the bucket they came from. If the failure was on our side, you'll see "credit refunded" in your activity log within seconds.
Can I upload music I didn't make?
No. By uploading, you confirm you have the rights to the audio. We don't enable processing of copyrighted material you don't own.
Is there a refund policy?
Subscription cancellation stops future charges. We don't proactively refund partial billing periods, but reach out at support@therefiner.app if something went wrong and we'll make it right.
Do you offer team plans?
Not yet — Studio ($49/mo, 60 credits) is our heavy-individual-user plan, not a multi-user team plan. Email us if you're a label or studio with multiple users sharing one account — we want to understand your workflow before designing for it.
