How do credits work?

Enhanced costs 2 credits per track. AI artifact removal, Finalize mastering and Advanced mode each add 1 credit. Enhanced with all three options costs 5 credits. Advanced mode requires artifact removal and a Pro or Studio plan, including an active welcome trial. Flow Matching is temporarily unavailable while we review output quality, so it cannot currently spend credits. Vocal De-mush costs 1 credit for vocal stems or spoken-word recordings; Vocal Restore costs 2 for singing vocal stems. Both remain Pro/Studio features. AI Artifacts (cleaner-only) costs 2. Finalize (mastering) is a 1-credit add-on to Enhanced, or 1 credit standalone — both are available on Hobby, Pro, Studio and active welcome trials. There are no per-preset caps within the features your plan includes. Subscription credits reset monthly; purchased Credit Pack credits never expire. A Credit Pack adds balance without changing your plan or unlocking features outside it.

How does the 30-day welcome trial work?

New verified accounts receive 5 welcome credits and 30 days of Pro feature access without entering a card. The underlying plan does not change. When the trial ends, the account automatically uses its normal plan: Free provides 5 credits each month for Enhanced, while Hobby keeps AI-artifact removal and Finalize, with Instrument Humanizer available in Analogue Colour. Buying a Credit Pack adds credits but does not extend the trial or change the plan.

Can anyone run Flow Matching?

Not currently. Flow Matching remains visible in the app, but it is disabled while we review output quality. New Flow Matching jobs are also blocked by the server before any credits are reserved. Use Enhanced for now.

Question 4

Can I cancel any time?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing period — you keep your tier and any remaining subscription credits until then. Pack credits are yours forever.

Question 5

Do unused subscription credits roll over?

Accepted Answer

No. Subscription credits reset on renewal (use it or lose it). Pack credits never expire — they're a separate bucket that drains last.

Question 6

What happens to my files?

Working files and saved outputs have separate retention windows, measured from when each file was created. Your job shows a storage-verified deadline when available; an estimate or unknown deadline is labelled clearly. For final-listening sessions, confirmation saves the main result and recorded download choices until their individual file deadlines and clears other previews and temporary working stems. You can close the window and return using Open final listening before confirming — but returning does not extend the deadline: the session ends when every way to finish has lost a required file to its own 7-day deadline, and after that the session cannot be resumed. Saved export files are available for up to 7 days from each file’s creation; check the deadline on the finished job; versions requested for download from a session that closed before confirmation remain on the server until their own deadline, up to 7 days from the request. A request is not proof that the file reached your device. We don't train on user audio.

Do you support 48 kHz output?

Yes, on Pro and Studio. Free and Hobby use 44.1 kHz. For a workflow with final listening, choose the output rate there for each version you render; other workflows offer the rate before submission.

Can I export 32-bit float WAV?

Accepted Answer

Not currently. The 32-bit float option belongs to Flow Matching, which is temporarily unavailable while we review output quality. Enhanced continues to export 24-bit WAV.

Question 9

What is the AI Artifacts preset?

Accepted Answer

It's our AI-artifact cleaner running on its own — no model after. The cleaner uses source separation plus per-stem DSP to reduce haze, harsh peaks and generation noise common in AI-generated audio, so you get a noticeably cleaner version of the same track. Available on Hobby, Pro, and Studio, 2 credits per run. Runtime depends on track length, queue demand, and worker startup. Cleaning can also change AI-detector scores, sometimes much lower, and no result is guaranteed. A lower score doesn't change how the track was made, so AI disclosure is still your job.

Can I clean up a podcast or voice recording?

Yes. Vocal De-mush reduces background noise in podcasts and spoken-word recordings, as well as cleaning AI-generated vocal stems. Upload your voice recording directly. If the vocal is part of a full song, separate it on the Stems page first. Available on Pro and Studio, 1 credit per run.

What is Finalize (mastering)?

Finalize is the mastering stage, available on Hobby, Pro, Studio and active welcome trials. Enable it with Enhanced for 1 additional credit, or choose standalone Finalize for an already-mixed track (1 credit). Choose optional Analogue Colour, then use final listening to compare with your original and set your reference, strength, loudness, Glue Compressor, Resonance Mix, Stereo Air and Stereo Width. The default listening preview does not use a download slot. Choose Render & download to keep a version: up to three distinct mastered versions, with free repeat downloads and no additional credits. Confirm and close session keeps your main result and downloaded versions; confirmation alone uses no slot. The loudness target starts at −9 LUFS, with −7, −11, −14 and −16 options. Check the measured result: a requested target is not guaranteed.

Is stem separation included?

Stem separation is a Pro feature (Pro and Studio). 3 credits per split, regardless of which engine you pick (Demucs, Melband, or Voice Cleanup). Free users get one lifetime trial split so you can try it before deciding to upgrade; Hobby does not include stems.

Question 13

What if a refinement fails?

Credits are automatically refunded to the bucket they came from. If the failure was on our side, you'll see "credit refunded" in your activity log within seconds.

Question 14

Can I upload music I didn't make?

Accepted Answer

No. By uploading, you confirm you have the rights to the audio. We don't enable processing of copyrighted material you don't own.

Is there a refund policy?

Accepted Answer

Subscription cancellation stops future charges. We don't proactively refund partial billing periods, but reach out at support@therefiner.app if something went wrong and we'll make it right.

Do you offer team plans?

Accepted Answer

Not yet — Studio ($49/mo, 150 credits) is our heavy-individual-user plan, not a multi-user team plan. Email us if you're a label or studio with multiple users sharing one account — we want to understand your workflow before designing for it.
